Racing will continue to surge ahead despite the Victorian Government announcing a move to stage four restrictions for metropolitan Melbourne.

According to Racing.com, the state government has agreed to the sport continuing during increased lockdowns.

Countless industries and businesses will be shut down due to the new lockdown laws, however, racing will again provide some much needed reprieve for Victorians.

There may be some further safety protocols introduced on some race courses, with regional Victoria also having some more serious restrictions put in place.

It represents a significant relief for RV and clubs with the start of the Spring Carnival just weeks away.

Plans had been made to try and allow small crowds to attend but that seems very unlikely now.

Racing Victoria released a statement yesterday, saying it will be business as usual.

"Until otherwise advised, racing and training is continuing under the strict biosecurity protocols that have safely guided the Victorian racing industry throughout the past four-and-a-half months without a COVID-19 case," it said.
